Attorney Bio
Mr. Owen was President Emeritus of Gill Ragon Owen, P.A., as well as a director and shareholder. Mr. Owen was a tax practitioner for over 50 years and is also a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Owen served as President of Gill Ragon Owen, P.A. from 2000-2014 and his practice focused primarily in Wealth Preservation Planning.
Mr. Owen had spoken and written nationally on a variety of legal and tax topics including tax planning, elder representation, wealth preservation planning, legal ethics, and tax-exempt organizations. Mr. Owen exceled at turning complicated tax laws into understandable, practical applications with a touch or two of humor.
Mr. Owen was named three times as Outstanding Discussion Leader by the Arkansas Society of CPAs. He was also an eight-time recipient of the Arkansas Bar Association’s The Best of CLE and in 2000 was named as the first recipient of The Best of The Best CLE.
Mr. Owen was listed in Mid-South SuperLawyers (Probate and Trust). He was also listed in Chambers & Partners USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business (Corporate/Commercial: Tax) – “described as ‘a very well-respected and knowledgeable tax lawyer,’ and is given ringing endorsements by his peers.”
Mr. Owen was recognized by the Arkansas Bar Association at the 2017 annual meeting. He received the James McKenzie Professionalism Award which recognizes “sustained excellence through integrity, character and leadership to the profession and the community which garners the highest honor to the legal profession”. We are so proud of Charlie and are fortunate to have experienced his commitment to excellence in his legal practice, his positive impact on our community, and most of all his unabashed love and compassion for all of his family, friends, and colleagues. May he rest in love.
